Strata have recently refreshed the landscape scheme for a new Rushden Living planning application which achieves a net gain in biodiversity.
Extensive wildflower meadow areas provide an attractive and highly permeable landscape between the existing and proposed development. Green infrastructure is integrated into the proposals to provide a sustainable drainage system of ponds and swales, wetland habitat and ecological corridors.
The landscape scheme for the new application replaces arable land of negligible wildlife value with 1.5 km of native species hedgerow, 2.1 ha of wildflower meadow, 1 ha of species rich grassland, 1 ha of dense woodland and 0.5 ha of thicket planting.
A series of public realm spaces are linked by an internal street, including a public square, pop up space, activity nodes and central hub with smart furniture.
