The roof surface is designed to function as a blue/green roof system. Through rainfall capture, storage and reuse in an automated irrigation system, planting resilience to drought events is significantly increased, reducing maintenance requirements and drinking water use by eliminating the need for frequent manual watering.

<image:caption>Once you get above the roofline of Winchester you realise how barren and underused the rooftops are. What if all suitable roofs were green and used for recreation and relaxation? Another suitable question for a sandbox test exercise. Green roofs bring many benefits, including biodiversity enhancements and habitat creation for birds, insects, and pollinators. They enhance the connectivity and diversity of urban green spaces and the ecological value and resilience of the city. Panoramic views of the cityscape and sky offer a unique and memorable experience in attractive and accessible spaces for people to enjoy nature, socialize, dine, and unwind. A string of roof top gardens would increase the economic and social value of the city centre area and foster social cohesion and inclusion in spaces for cultural and community events.</image:caption>
